Stay-at-Home Mom Builds an Embroidery Empire
Andrea Lunsford is a stay-at-home-mom who’s been running her own craft business for a few years. After sewing and selling custom baby quilts, Andrea began making personalized children’s garments. Andrea launched Greener B. Embroidery, which features children’s shirts, onesies, and bibs. Each with a fun, endearing appliquéd image truck, animals, monograms, and everything else in-between. With over 700 sales to date, Andrea’s shop is thriving.
Fun Products Should have Fun Branding
Andrea’s growing business only thing missing was branding to really capture the spirit vibe characte quality feel of her business.
Andrea’s former branding lacked the spark and playfulness her children’s clothing represented. She self-customized a branding kit she’d purchased. But the images and the colors of the old logo didn’t capture the spirit of her business.
She envisioned a logo with bright colors and images that symbolized childhood. Her customers should know that Greener B. Embroidery is a kid’s store, without it looking cheap and “clip-arty.”
So going forward for her new brand we decided that her logo would include:
- bright, gender-inclusive colors
- hand-drawn, script, and/or whimsical fonts that connoted “children’s apparel
Also, the new branding would be used for her Etsy store, clothing tags, print stationery, and her social media accounts.
Pinning is Winning
To get the rebranding for Greener B. Embroidery underway, I had Andrea create a Pinterest board filled with all types of inspiration for her a new brand including logos, color palettes, patterns, and even web design.
Although web design wasn’t included in her project, it was still helpful to see what types of colors, typography, patterns, and shapes we could incorporate into her new logo concepts. Understanding what appealed to Andrea helped me create logo concepts closer to her brand vision.
After we discussed Andrea’s findings, I created three logo concepts.
After the main logo design was selected, refined, and approved, I moved on to create her brand board which included three more logo variations, typography, a color palette, patterns, and other design elements.
Take a look at the final designs below. Greener B. Embroidery now has a whimsical yet profession feel that appeals to Andrea’s target customers, along with complementary elements that can be used across different media and marketing collateral.
